Fabrice Jolivet
Born and raised in the picturesque city of Lyon, France, I’m Fabrice Jolivet, a photographer with over two decades of experience. My journey began on the vibrant streets of Lyon, where my passion for capturing life’s moments first took root. Now, I’m proud to call Dublin home, where I specialise in LGBTQ+ photography.
My connection to the LGBTQ+ community runs deep. In 1992, I was involved with AIDS organisations in Paris, a time marked by significant personal loss as many friends and acquaintances succumbed to the disease. This experience inspired me to create a film titled Plus Fort que la Vie to highlight the suffering endured by the LGBTQ+ community.
In 1995, I organised a major fundraising weekend in Lyon, featuring two days of concerts at the “Transbordeur” to combat HIV/AIDS. With Jean-Michel Jarre as a God father.
Today, I dedicate my art to the LGBTQ+ community, recognising that there is still much progress to be made. Despite the strides we’ve taken, I am still frequently asked if I’m comfortable photographing LGBTQ+ individuals, which motivates me to continue advocating for inclusivity through my work.
